Kuroda vs. Santana
Ervin Santana (0-1, 7.94 ERA) is coming off his loss on his season’s debut. He struggled giving up 5 earned runs and 2 home runs in 5.2 innings on Sunday. He is also bad against the Yanks, holding a 5.55 ERA in his career versus them. “I was behind in most counts,” Santana said. “It wasn’t easy to get out of jams like that. I felt the slider and changeup were OK, but when I tried to throw a sinker, it wasn’t doing too much.”
Hiroki Kuroda (0-1, 6.35 ERA) also had a tough season debut. He 4 earned runs and 8 hits in 5.2 innings against the Tampa Bay Rays. “It’s really disappointing,” Kuroda said through an interpreter. “No matter what kind of situation you’re in, you go to the mound to get a win and I wasn’t able to do that, so it was very disappointing.”
The Yankees have been off to a 3 game winning streak, sweeping the Orioles in 3 straight days, while the Angels lost their last 2 games and have been struggling to a 2-4 record in the first 5 games of the season.
I think the Yankees will win this game by the score of around 6-4, with Kuroda getting the win and giving up 3 or 4 earned runs, while going about 6 innings in his Yankee stadium debut. Santana will have a tough beginning then he will regroup a bit to go maybe 5.1 innings, giving up 5 earned runs in the loss.
